Call me Ola

Twenty years, two continents, one common thread: people.

I have never believed that a professional journey has to follow a single path. Over more than twenty years between France and West Africa, mine has moved through customer relations, telecommunications, the digital economy, institutional communications, business development and project implementation.

Today, as a Freelance Senior Consultant, I help companies, institutions and international partners grow in West Africa: reading the market, building partnerships, engaging stakeholders and turning strategy into action. My background in strategic communications is my edge. I know how to give a complex project a clear story, and how that story brings people together.

My story

Mine began far from the boardrooms where I now spend much of my time. In France, where I lived for five years in Lyon, I studied law, economics and management, then international business. Alongside my studies, I worked in customer relations, reception and services. Those years taught me what no lecture could: how to listen, how to read what people expect before they say it, and how to feel at ease in a room full of different cultures.

Coming home to West Africa was a choice, and staying was another. I built my career in telecommunications, then in Benin’s digital economy, then in institutional communications at the Port Authority of Cotonou. Along the way I learned to work with private companies, public institutions and international organisations, often all at once, and to connect ideas to opportunities and strategies to tangible results.

Today I work at the intersection of business development, strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement and market expansion. I see myself as a connector, a problem solver and an accelerator. At 40, I am still learning: in 2026, I completed a Master’s degree in organisational communication at Université Sorbonne Paris Nord.

Writing runs through all of it. I believe words can clarify an idea, shape a perception and move people to act. For me, narrative strategy is not about visibility; it gives purpose, coherence and direction to ideas worth bringing to life.

There is more to my story than work. I am a multipotentialite. I have built businesses in fashion and, with Urban Green, in indoor plants, and they taught me as much about creativity, resilience and customers as any assignment. I am an artist, and a curious traveller: some twenty countries so far, and frequent trips between Benin and Nigeria that keep me between francophone and anglophone West Africa.

I am also a mother, a full-time commitment that keeps reshaping how I think about responsibility, time and the legacy we leave behind.

Through Notes from Africa, I share what I see: not a romanticised Africa, but one rooted in experience, curiosity and a real understanding of its possibilities and complexities.

Connecting people. Building bridges. Turning ambition into meaningful progress.
